Preserving and Protecting the Environment
Oct. 23rd, 2007

As Puerto Vallarta's leading tour company, Vallarta Adventures is committed to giving back to the community through active contribution of time and money to important ecological and social programs.

The company supports a variety of causes all aimed at enriching the lives of those who live in and visit Puerto Vallarta, while helping to make this a better world for future generations.

One example is the aggressive recycling campaign they are kicking off this season at their exclusive tropical beach hideaway, Las Caletas.

Only accessible by sea, the dreamy, isolated cove of Las Caletas was once the private home of the famous film director John Huston, who considered it one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Today, Las Caletas is Vallarta Adventures' exclusive tropical beach hideaway on Banderas Bay where you can not only enjoy an extraordinary day of fun in the sun - but you just might learn something.

Nature is wonderful and there is no better way to explore it than with the help of Vallarta Adventures' friendly and bilingual tour guides, who delight in sharing their special knowledge and appreciation of the environment with vacationers.

They take a great deal of pride in what they do, and in what the company is doing to preserve and protect this tropical oasis.

Recently, three wild baby ducks were saved from certain death by the devoted employees at Las Caletas. This is one of many endeavors to protect and preserve the environment of this tropical beach hideaway so everyone can enjoy the surroundings.

"We loved it here, it's wonderful, the people are very friendly," says Jim Bovia, a tourist who enjoys nature. "We wish we had more time to spend on this beautiful strip of land."

At Las Caletas, you can choose between pure relaxation or gentle exploration in the unspoiled natural setting of this tropical beach hideaway. Throughout the day, bilingual eco-guides offer free guided nature walks through the jungle, orchid gardens and interactive parrot center so you can discover Las Caletas' prolific flora and bird life.

And this well-secluded nature preserve is going to remain pristine because this season marks the beginning of an aggressive recycling campaign.

"We used to have only one bin for all the trash and garbage, now we are going to start using two different colors of bins, one for organic and a blue one for the inorganic garbage," says General Manager Ricardo de la Torre, "This will help the environment around us and make it easier to recycle products."

The organic garbage is sent to a compost pile in a neighboring town. Vallarta Adventures is taking an active stance in the sustainable development of tourism. Key elements include maintaining essential ecological processes and helping to conserve biodiversity.

Raising awareness and ensuring a meaningful experience for tourists on the walk through the environs promotes this concept.

"We learned a lot of interesting things on the nature hike," says Jim Bovia, "One was the disappearance of the coconut trees in the area, that really surprised me."

Low impact development of Las Caletas and respect for the socio-cultural authenticity of the host community preserves heritage and values. Most of the people working here live near by. It is only through constant monitoring of human impact on the area that ensures a high level of preservation.

The day trip to Las Caletas also offers snorkeling, a cooking class, therapeutic massage, kayaking and much more. For more information or to make your reservations, call toll-free from the U.S. or Canada, 1-888-303-263 or click HERE.
